Multnomah Falls Trail #441
Wahkeena Falls Trail #400/420
The Multnomah Falls Trail is part of a series of interconnecting trails in the Multnomah Falls / Wahkeena Falls area. The Multnomah / Wahkeena Falls Loop is a great hike, passing several spectacular waterfalls and with some great views of the Columbia River Gorge.
NOTE: The following two books are highly recommended for anyone interested in hiking in the Columbia River Gorge: Hiking the Columbia River Gorge, and 100 Hikes in Northwest Oregon. I own both and consider them indispensable for hiking the Columbia River Gorge.

Multnomah Falls Trail / Wahkeena Falls Trail Loop Description
One of the best hikes in the gorge. If you have children and/or dogs, this is a much safer hike than Eagle Creek Trail. While there are some steep banks next to the trail, except for the Multnomah Falls Lookout, it does not have the sheer cliffs of eagle Creek. Start at the Multnomah Falls trailhead, this is the direction most people take, so you will run into fewer people coming in the opposite direction on the trail. Mulntomah Falls Trail follows Multnomah Creek sout to the junction with Trail 420, which leads to the Devil’s Rest Trail junction, and junctions with trails 419c and 400/420 which follow Wahkeena Creek down to Wahkeena Falls. I recommend taking Wahkeena Falls Trail 400/420 down to Wahkeena Falls, Wahkeena Springs is near the trail junction and is well worth the stop. It makes a great lunch / snack stop. Beautiful Fairy Falls is about a half mile down trail 400/420. For a longer hike, you can follow Multnomah Falls Trail 441 five miles past the junction with trail 420 to Larch Mountain, take trail 420c to Devil’s Rest, or trail 415 to Angel’s Rest.
