The Crown Point Hotel
I’m not sure if this is cool or horrific. In 1915, developers floated a plan for a hotel on Crown Point. R. T. Dabney, a retired lumberman, purchased the rock ledge and other property at Crown Point outside the highway right of way. The planned hotel was to include a lounge, public and private reception and dining rooms, a museum, ballroom, motion picture theater, and music room with organ lofts. The 75 room hotel was to be topped with roof gardens, which would be 20 to 30 feet below the level of the highway, so as not to obscure the view.
