Cliff House

Cliff House

The only information I have on the Cliff House comes courtesy Clarence Mershon:

Almost directly across the highway [from Bridal Veil Lodge}, the three-story, 18-room Cliff House stood, reportedly built in the late 1860s … On October 9, 1947, a fire destroyed the structure.

Mershon, Clarence. East of the Sandy, The Columbia River Highway. Portland, Oregon: Guardian Peaks, Inc., 2001, p. 30.

And from the newspaper story of its demise:

Cliff House, Oregonian, October 10, 1947, page 21.

Searching for information is complicated by the fact that were several Oregon establishments named “Cliff House” in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
